Description
Total confidence in strong wind
Going for overpowered jumps and megaloops in gusty wind demands complete trust in your kite. The Orbit is North's iconic 5-strut big air kite: plenty of control in strong wind, great upwind ability, effortless turning and jumps with lots of hang time. For 2024 North smoothed the leading edge shape with a continuous arc, redesigned the tips and bridle to achieve the most stable Orbit up to that point and made all sizes lighter with lighter bladders.
5 struts · Big air and megaloops · Lighter bladders · 2024 season
Who it's for
- Intermediate to advanced riders who want to jump high in strong, gusty wind.
- Anyone who wants to get into kiteloops with a kite that flies forward and catches them.
- Anyone looking for an Orbit at a good price who finds their size among the last units.
What makes it special
01 Overpowered jumps and megaloops
Plenty of control in strong wind: according to North, it lets you hold more power per square metre than any other kite.
02 Height and hang time
It takes off powerfully and keeps you in the air for a long time on every jump.
03 Low-drag profile
More power and efficiency: biconvex-shaped tips that reduce drag and turn faster, and a slightly deeper profile in the centre that gives more lift.
04 Precise turning and a wide control zone
It is intuitive: riders of all levels can fly it without worrying about where the kite is in the sky.
05 Competition-proven
Developed in real conditions and on the podium: more reliable and forgiving in gusts, without losing its ability to fly forward and catch you in kiteloops.
Where it shines: big air in strong, gusty wind, kiteloops and megaloops, and freeride.

Technology and construction
- Continuous curved arc: smoother leading edge, slightly narrower at the shoulders and wider at the tips: faster.
- Redesigned bridle: new position of the bridle attachment points for the most stable Orbit up to 2024.
- Size-specific profiles: on the small sizes, slightly lower aspect ratio and refined profiles for more hang time and tighter turns in double and S kiteloops; on the large sizes, a livelier feel and better light-wind performance for heavy riders.
- N-HTRS canopy: high-tenacity, high-performance ripstop fabric.
- Top-quality dacron: in the frame.
- DuraLite seam protectors: protect the seams from wear.
- Lighter bladders: on all sizes: the kite flies earlier and faster because you need less wind to lift it.
- Includes: kite, bag and repair kit.

Which one to choose?
- Orbit 2027: the current Orbit, with N-Max2 frame, slimmer leading edge, 5-point bridle and higher aspect ratio: more playful and with more hang time.
- Orbit 2026: the big Orbit redesign, with N-Max2 and an aspect ratio of 5.2; few units left.
- Orbit Ultra: the fastest, most reactive Orbit, with N-u80 frame, for expert riders and competition.
Pair it with: the North Navigator Control System bar and a big air twintip such as the Atmos 2027.
Frequently asked questions
Which Orbit 2024 size do I need?+
It depends on your weight, your board and your usual wind. As North no longer publishes the 2024 range chart, write to us with your weight and conditions and we'll tell you whether the 8 or the 11 m suits you.
What changed in the Orbit 2024?+
Leading edge with a continuous arc, biconvex-shaped tips, redesigned bridle, profiles revised by size and lighter bladders on all sizes.
How does it differ from the Orbit 2027?+
The Orbit was redesigned in 2026 with an N-Max2 frame, slimmer leading edge, 5-point bridle and higher aspect ratio, and the 2027 fine-tunes the bridle and profile. The 2024 is still a great big air kite, with the stable feel of that generation.
Is it good for megaloops?+
Yes, North designed it for overpowered jumps and megaloops in gusty wind. You'll find tips in how to do a megaloop and in big air in kitesurfing.
What is included?+
The kite, the bag and the repair kit. The bar is sold separately.
