Description
It's all downhill from here
The ROCKET FREE DOWNWIND CARBON combines glide, volume and acceleration in an elongated shape designed for pocket wing, K-Wing and SUP foil. It starts from the best of the Rocket Wing Midlength, natural balance, stability and glide, and takes it further with more length and a stretched outline. In these disciplines the wing or the paddle is only there to get you up on foil, so the board has to give you the edge right there: it gets going fast and stable even with little power.
6'4 to 7'8 · 85 to 124 L · HD Foam Carbon Composite · Rear step and kicktail · Handle on all sizes
Who it's for
- Riders starting out or progressing in pocket wing, K-Wing or downwind who want easy, stable take-offs.
- Anyone riding in difficult conditions or choppy water who puts stability ahead of maximum agility.
- SUP foil riders looking for a long board with glide and volume to get going fast.
What makes it special
01 Maximum glide, fast take-off
Its long shape and stretched outline increase glide, and the rear step with the kicktail helps you pick up speed straight away and softens touchdowns on the water.
02 For pocket wing, K-Wing or SUP foil
Designed for free-flight and downwind disciplines where the wing or paddle is put away as soon as you take off, to ride on the energy of the sea alone.
03 Optimised volume
The width-to-thickness ratio balances stability and acceleration so you take off early even with little power; the only slightly recessed standing area keeps control under your feet.
04 Ultralight, stiff carbon
The HD Foam Carbon Composite construction is very light and stiff: it improves manoeuvrability, responds more when pumping and transmits the foil even more directly, with the same shape and programme as the bamboo version.
Where it shines: open-sea swell and bumps out at sea, long downwinds and choppy days; with pocket wing, K-Wing or paddle, and also for easy gliding in any conditions.

*Weight of the board alone. Official F-ONE data. All sizes come with a carry handle. If you're unsure between two sizes, the bigger one will help you take off sooner and with more stability, and the smaller one will be more agile once you're flying. Technology and construction
- Carbon Construction: high-density foam sandwich with fibreglass and carbon: light, strong and tougher against heel pressure and knocks.
- Breathable Valve: a valve that automatically regulates the board's internal pressure with changes in temperature, flights, hours in the sun or altitude.
- Carbon Twin Tracks: carbon foil tracks with the standard 90 mm spacing, compatible with all masts with a four-screw plate.
- Shape design: more thickness, a wider nose and hull and boxier rails than the Free Surf; foot pressure slightly forward, as on F-ONE's classic boards.
- Rear step and kicktail: help you pick up speed quickly and make touchdowns on the water smoother.
Rocket Free Downwind Carbon on the water
Which one to choose?
- Rocket Free Downwind: the same shape in bamboo, a little heavier and with an equally direct feel.
- Rocket Free Surf: narrower, thinner and more agile, with balanced foot pressure; for those who want to carve turns on the wave rather than maximum stability.
- Rocket Wing Midlength Carbon: the base the Free Downwind starts from; more geared towards wing foiling with the wing always in hand.
- Rocket SUP DW: for pure paddle downwinding, with more length and volume to take off with the paddle.
Pair it with: the Plane Eagle foil, designed for downwinding at sea and versatile for pocket wing and K-Wing, or the Plane Eagle X if you're after maximum glide; the Quest pocket wing, the Plume K-Wing or the Frigate parawing.
Frequently asked questions
Why such a long board?+
In pocket wing, K-Wing or SUP foil, take-off is more demanding than in wing foiling. More length improves glide and acceleration, and the volume lets you start gliding quickly and with stability.
Free Downwind or Free Surf?+
The Free Downwind is more stable: thicker, with a wider nose and hull, boxier rails and slightly forward foot pressure. The Free Surf is more agile and designed for carving. If you prioritise easy take-offs and riding in choppy water, go for the Free Downwind.
What's the difference between bamboo and carbon?+
Same shape and programme. The carbon version is lighter and stiffer, more responsive when pumping and with a more direct feel; the bamboo version is a little heavier.
Which foil can I fit?+
It has Twin Tracks with the standard 90 mm spacing, compatible with any mast with a four-screw plate.
