Description

HIGH-PERFORMANCE FREERIDE · WAVES · FREESTYLE

Response and precision in any wind

North designed the Nova Pro for riders who want to carve lines on open-ocean swell, jump or do freestyle. Light in the hands and efficient upwind, it combines advanced materials with the modular ShiftLock system and Carbon UDi technology to deliver precise response and balanced control in any conditions. It holds its shape at the top of the range and performs very well in light wind, and its refined outline and profile give it positive lift that pushes you forwards and upwards in tacks and manoeuvres.

Sizes 2.2 – 6.2 m · Wind 8 – 38 knots · Hybrid N-Weave45 · ShiftLock handles sold separately

WHO IT'S FOR

Who it's for

  • Intermediate to advanced riders looking for more response and precision than with a Nova.
  • Anyone who rides waves and swell and wants a wing that stays neutral while surfing.
  • Jumping and freestyle riders who want a light, direct wing that's easy to position.
KEY FEATURES

What makes it special

01 Carbon UDi

Carbon reinforcement inside the leading edge for a fast response.

Positive lift and light handling across the whole wind range.

04 Uniquely shaped dihedral

Stable geometry to keep the wing neutral and balanced while you surf.

05 Tapered Active Twist tips

Extra control at the top of the range.

06 Radial panels with Load Diffusers

They spread the load for even tension across the canopy.

07 Maximum low-end power

Plenty of efficiency at the bottom of the range to get up on foil instantly.

08 Contoured ergonomic strut

Helps reduce arm fatigue and elbow strain.

09 LiteVision windows

Strategic wide-angle placement for good visibility in gybes.

10 Dual HyperFlow valves

Independent pressure in the leading edge and strut.

11 ShiftLock accessories

Compatible with the ShiftLock camera mount and paddle mount.

12 Leash with SS316 swivel

Elastic webbing wrist leash with a stainless steel swivel to recover the wing quickly and safely.

Where it shines: waves and swell, jumping, freestyle and demanding freeride, from very strong wind with the 2.2 m to light wind with the 6.2 m.

Data from North's official table for the Nova Pro 2026 (handles: front / rear). ShiftLock handles and boom not included, sold separately. The 2.2 and 2.9 m sizes only take the 950 mm boom; the 3.5 m takes both the 950 and the 1100 mm, although the camera mount can only be combined with the 950 mm. For the 2.2 m the official table states 6 – 40+ knots, a figure that looks like a typo: ask us. Check the selector for the sizes available in store.

“The Nova Pro is for riders who want that extra bit of response and precision, whether surfing waves, pushing in freestyle or riding fully powered.”

TECHNOLOGY

Technology and construction

  • Hybrid N-Weave45 frame: high-tenacity N-Weave45 in the strut and the central section of the leading edge for a direct feel, with more forgiving Dacron tips.
  • Carbon UDi: anti-deflection unidirectional carbon tapes inside the leading edge for a more reactive frame that recovers its shape sooner.
  • Hybrid Matrix canopy: stiffer Matrix on 80% of the canopy for more torsional strength and wind range, and lighter N-RS3 triple ripstop at the front.
  • Light, precise handling: outline and profile designed to give positive lift and stability in tacks and manoeuvres.
  • Balanced riding: less sensitivity to flutter so you can keep the wing neutral when surfing, downwinding or walking.
  • Active Twist tips: the leading edge tapers and uses more flexible Dacron at the tips to release excess power.
  • Modular ShiftLock track: slide and lock any handle or boom in the position you want: 1100 or 950 mm boom, 500, 400 or 250 mm handles or a 400 mm front J-handle.
  • Contoured ergonomic strut: segmented strut to hold the wing in a more comfortable position; with a J-handle it's even more noticeable.
  • Includes: wing, wrist leash, bag, repair kit and Sonar T40 key.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Does it include handles or a boom?+

No. The Nova Pro uses the ShiftLock track and the handles or boom are bought separately. It includes the wing, wrist leash, bag, repair kit and Sonar T40 key.

Which handles do I need?+

North recommends 400 mm front and rear handles up to the 3.5 m, 500 mm front and 400 mm rear from 4.2 to 5.4 m, and 500/500 mm on the 6.2 m. If you prefer a boom: 950 mm from 2.2 to 3.5 m (the 3.5 m also takes the 1100 mm) and 1100 mm from 4.2 to 6.2 m.

Nova or Nova Pro?+

The Nova is easier and comes with a boom as standard; the Nova Pro, with a Hybrid N-Weave45 frame and Matrix canopy, is stiffer, more precise and more efficient upwind, for riders who want more response.

Which size should I choose?+

Go by your usual wind: the 4.2 and 4.8 m cover 12 to 32 knots and are the most versatile; the 2.2 to 3.5 m are for strong wind and the 5.4 and 6.2 m for light wind.
