Description
Lighter, more direct, more low-end power
The Unit SLS 2027 is the lightweight, high-performance version of the Unit. Its 135 g PentaTX frame with an 82 g Aluula Gold centre panel makes it stiffer and more reactive with less weight, and it keeps the leading-edge diameter of the original Unit in the small sizes for more low-end power. For 2027 it adds a shorter centre strut, a refined profile and new windows.
PentaTX + Aluula Gold · Sizes 2.0 – 6.5 m² · Wind 7 – 45 knots · Fusion boom or handles
Who it's for
- Intermediate and advanced riders who want to take the next step in freeride, freestyle and waves.
- Riders looking for a lighter, stiffer wing than the original Unit to feel more connected and reactive.
- Riders on small sizes who want to get going sooner and not run out of power in transitions.
What makes it special
01 Lightweight precision
The PentaTX frame with an Aluula Gold centre panel increases stiffness and reduces weight: a highly reactive, connected ride.
02 More low-end power
Keeping the original Unit's leading-edge diameter in the small sizes gives more drive to get going sooner and not lose power in transitions.
03 Compact handling
The shorter centre strut reduces the wing's swing weight: more manoeuvrable and smoother through gusts and lulls.
04 Direct response
Optimised canopy tension and tip twist improve profile stability and give precise response.
05 Stable when flagged
The refined profile distribution improves efficiency and keeps the wing balanced when surfing waves or swell.
06 Versatile
Designed for progressing in freeride, freestyle and waves: more power, direct handling and low weight across every discipline.
Where it shines: demanding freeride, freestyle jumps and tricks, and waves or swell with the wing flagged out.

*Wing weight without handles or boom. Data from Duotone's official chart. The Fusion handles and boom are not included: the columns show the size Duotone recommends for each wing size (the 2.0 only takes a boom). Duotone recommends a 4" (M) safety leash up to the 4.5 and a 5" (L) from the 5.0 upwards. Duotone does not publish a rider weight per size: choose according to your weight and usual wind and, if you're torn between two sizes, ask us. Check the selector for the sizes and colours available in store.
“The lightweight construction and direct response make it feel incredibly connected. I always know exactly where the wing is, no matter how hard I push.”
Technology and construction
- PentaTX frame with Aluula Gold centre panel: the SLS construction combines lightweight PentaTX (135 g) and an Aluula Gold centre panel (82 g) to increase stiffness, reduce weight and give a very lively response.
- Shorter centre strut: a more compact wing with less swing weight: more manoeuvrable and smoother through gusts and lulls.
- Refined profile distribution: less depth in the centre and more towards the quarters of the wing: more efficient power and more stability when flagging the wing out.
- Optimised canopy tension and tip twist: cleaner aerodynamics, a more stable profile and direct response for precise control across the whole range.
- New window layout: better visibility on the water without losing canopy tension or performance.
- MOD3s canopy: a high-performance fabric that maintains canopy tension, profile stability and durability over time.
- Fusion boom or handle option: lets you fit a boom or handles on the same wing and adapt it to your riding style.
- Wide leading-edge handle: comfortable one-handed control and intuitive positioning of the wing while surfing or flagging it out.
- Moulded mini-batten pockets: help maintain canopy stability and the wing's performance in the long term.
The Unit SLS 2027 on the water
Which one to choose?
- Unit SLS Concept Blue 2027: the same wing with the undyed canopy of the Concept Blue line.
- Unit 2027: the original construction, more affordable and very durable, with the same 2027 design.
- Unit D/LAB 2027: full Aluula Gold frame and a slimmer leading edge: even lighter, stiffer and faster. From 3.5 to 6.5 m².
- Unit SLS 2026: the previous season, if the design before the 2027 updates works for you.
Pair it with: the Fusion Boom or the Fusion handle set (not included with the wing), the Leash Wrist Coiled wrist safety leash, a board such as the Sky Style SLS 2027 or the Skybrid SLS 2027, and the Duotone pump.
Frequently asked questions
What size Unit SLS 2027 do I need?+
It depends on your weight, your board and your usual wind. As a reference, Duotone gives the 5.0 a range of 10 to 25 knots and the 4.0 a range of 14 to 30 knots. With a light SLS many riders combine two sizes to cover the whole year. If in doubt, ask us with your weight and your spot.
Does the wing come with handles or a boom?+
No. It's sold without handles or boom so you can choose the Fusion system: M handles (43/31 cm) for the 2.5 and 3.0, L handles (55/31 cm) from 3.5 to 6.5, and an S boom (72 cm) for the 2.0, M (84 cm) for the 2.5 and 3.0 and L (96 cm) from 3.5 to 6.5.
What does the SLS construction offer over the original Unit?+
The PentaTX frame with an Aluula Gold centre panel increases stiffness and reduces weight. In practice, the wing responds sooner, gives better feedback and feels more connected, especially when you push in jumps and tricks.
SLS or D/LAB?+
The SLS keeps the original Unit's leading-edge diameter in the small sizes for more low-end power, and goes down to the 2.0. The D/LAB uses a full Aluula Gold frame and a slimmer leading edge: less drag, more speed and the lowest weight in the range, for very demanding riders.
