Description
The lightest, stiffest and fastest Unit
The Unit D/LAB 2027 is the most advanced version of the Unit. Its full 82 g Aluula Gold frame is the lightest and stiffest in the range, and the smaller-diameter leading edge reduces drag for more speed and better upwind performance. With the shorter centre strut, the refined profile and the new 2027 windows, it's the most efficient wing in the family.
Aluula Gold frame · Sizes 3.5 – 6.5 m² · Wind 7 – 33 knots · Fusion boom or handles
Who it's for
- Advanced and expert riders who want the lightest, most reactive wing possible.
- Anyone riding demanding freeride, freestyle and waves who is looking for instant response and maximum efficiency.
- Riders who value speed and upwind ability above all else.
What makes it special
01 Instant power
The full Aluula Gold frame maximises stiffness at minimum weight: instant response and exceptional efficiency.
02 Less drag, more speed
The smaller-diameter leading edge reduces aerodynamic drag and improves acceleration, top speed and upwind performance.
03 Compact handling
The shorter centre strut reduces the wing's swing weight: more manoeuvrable and smoother through transitions.
04 Precise control
Optimised canopy tension and wingtip twist give exceptional profile stability and direct response in any conditions.
05 Effortless flagging
The refined profile distribution keeps the wing balanced and stable while you surf, with smooth drift and intuitive riding on the wave.
06 Uncompromising performance
Designed for demanding freeride, freestyle and waves: maximum efficiency, direct response and control in every discipline.
Where it shines: fast freeride, high-level freestyle, jumping and waves, and generally whenever you want maximum efficiency from every knot of wind.

*Wing weight without handles or boom. Data from Duotone's official chart. The Fusion handles and boom are not included: the columns show the size Duotone recommends for each wing size. Duotone recommends a 4" (M) leash up to the 4.5 and a 5" (L) leash from the 5.0 up. Duotone doesn't publish a rider weight per size: choose according to your weight and your usual wind and, if you're torn between two sizes, ask us. Check the selector for the sizes and colours available in store.
“It feels incredibly light in the hands and reacts instantly to every input. The combination of power and precision makes every manoeuvre feel easy.”
Technology and construction
- Full Aluula Gold frame (82 g): the lightest and stiffest construction in the range: instant power transfer, high efficiency and unmatched response.
- Smaller-diameter leading edge: reduces aerodynamic drag and increases speed without losing control or efficiency.
- Shorter centre strut: a more compact wing with less swing weight: more manoeuvrable and smoother between gusts and lulls.
- Refined profile distribution: less depth in the centre and more towards the quarters of the wing: more efficient power and more stability when flagging the wing.
- Optimised canopy tension and wingtip twist: cleaner aerodynamics, a more stable profile and direct response for precise control across the whole range.
- New window layout: better visibility on the water without losing canopy tension or performance.
- MOD3s canopy: a high-performance fabric that maintains canopy tension, profile stability and durability over time.
- Fusion boom or handle option: lets you fit a boom or handles on the same wing and adapt it to your riding style.
- Wide leading-edge handle: comfortable one-handed control and intuitive wing positioning while you surf or flag it.
- Moulded mini-batten pockets: help maintain canopy stability and the wing's performance over the long term.
The Unit D/LAB 2027 on the water
Which one to choose?
- Unit SLS 2027: PentaTX frame with an Aluula Gold centre panel and the original Unit leading edge: more low-end power and sizes from 2.0 m².
- Unit 2027: the original construction, more affordable and very durable, with the same 2027 design.
- Unit D/LAB 2026: last season's D/LAB version, while stocks last.
Pair it with: the Fusion Boom or the Fusion handle set (not included with the wing), the Leash Wrist Coiled wrist leash, a board such as the Sky Style SLS 2027 or the Skybrid SLS 2027, and the Duotone pump.
Frequently asked questions
Which Unit D/LAB size do I need?+
It depends on your weight, your board and your usual wind. The D/LAB is made from 3.5 to 6.5 m²: Duotone gives the 3.5 a range of 16 to 33 knots and the 6.5 a range of 7 to 18 knots. If you're torn between two sizes, ask us with your weight and your local spot.
Does the wing come with handles or a boom?+
No. It's sold without handles or a boom so you can choose the Fusion system. For all D/LAB sizes (3.5 to 6.5) Duotone recommends the L handles (55/31 cm) or the L boom (96 cm).
D/LAB or SLS?+
The D/LAB has the full Aluula Gold frame and a slimmer leading edge: it's lighter, stiffer and faster. The SLS keeps the original Unit leading edge in the small sizes for more low-end power and goes down to the 2.0. For most riders the SLS is enough; the D/LAB is for those who want the very best.
Why are there no small D/LAB sizes?+
Duotone makes the Unit D/LAB from 3.5 to 6.5 m². For very strong winds, the Unit and the Unit SLS go down to 2.0 m².
