Description

WING FOIL · FREERIDE · WAVES · DOWNWIND

Cabrinha's ultralight wing: you barely feel it in your hands

The AER was born from a Cabrinha project to see how much weight could be taken out of a simple wing. The result weighs the same as others made with specialist lightweight materials and folds up very small, so the team itself adopted it for winging upwind, packing it away and coming back downwind on a SUP foil. Its high dihedral gives it upwind stability and reactive handling, and the full profile in the central area provides power to get going with little effort. It isn't the wing for chasing the max in jumping or racing: it's the one you choose when you want lightness, simplicity and a wing that goes everywhere with you.

Sizes 3, 4 and 5 m · 11 – 32 knots (75 kg rider) · From 1.52 kg · Dual Airlock valve

WHO IT'S FOR

Who it's for

  • Riders who prioritise weight: long sessions without tiring your arms and a wing that flies itself when you let it go on the wave.
  • Anyone who does downwind: winging upwind, folding it small and riding back down on the board, as the Cabrinha team does.
  • Light and young riders who need a manageable wing to progress, and adults looking for a small strong-wind size (3 m from 18 to 32 knots).
  • Travellers and anyone who gets to the beach by bike or on foot: it takes up little space and weighs little.
  • If you're looking for maximum power and stiffness for jumping or racing, look at the Mantis (comparison below).
KEY FEATURES

What makes it special

01 High dihedral

The AER's tips are raised well above the centre. That gives it lots of upwind stability and reactive handling, with balanced flex.

02 Full profile in the centre

The central area has a fuller profile that increases low-end power: it helps you take off and get foiling with minimal effort.

03 Not a toy

Being light doesn't make it just for kids: Cabrinha designed it for small riders as well as big riders in strong wind. In 3, 4 and 5 m it's a complete adult wing.

04 Convex centre strut

The curved centre strut stiffens the frame and holds the canopy better towards the trailing edge: a more direct connection between your hands and the wing.

05 20/20 Vision windows

Windows parallel to the centre strut so you can see what's ahead while riding, during manoeuvres and in busier spots.

06 Progressive tip twist

Tip twist increases with size so the wing responds the same when sheeting in and out, whatever the size, and forgives mistakes.

Where it shines: freeride in light and medium wind, waves where you let the wing fly free, upwind sessions before riding back downwind, and travel. According to Cabrinha, its strong points are freeride and light wind.

SIZES AND SPECS

Sizes and wind ranges

SIZE WIND RANGE (75 KG RIDER)* WING WEIGHT (WITHOUT BAG)
3 m 18 – 32 knots 1.52 kg
4 m 13 – 27 knots 1.88 kg
5 m 11 – 26 knots 2.16 kg

*Cabrinha data for the AER 2025 (weights subject to manufacturing tolerances). The ranges are for a 75 kg rider: if you weigh less, the same size will work for you with a bit more wind; if you weigh more or are just starting out, go up a size. If you're torn between two, the larger one gets going earlier in light wind and the smaller one is lighter and easier to handle when it's blowing. Colours: C1 (yellow and grey with white leading edge), C2 (grey with black leading edge) and C11 Wildcard, Cabrinha's limited series with a varying design. Sold without leash. Check the selector for the sizes and colours available in store.

“The AER is incredibly light. That makes it really smooth in the waves: it floats in your hand and riding takes no effort at all. It has so much performance that I'm surprised how good it is.”

TECHNOLOGY

Technology and construction

  • Design profile: high-stiffness inflatable leading edge, high and reactive dihedral with a high-lift profile, medium aspect ratio and convex centre strut.
  • Nano Ripstop canopy: 55 g/m² with a 3 mm double ripstop pattern and a new coating; according to Cabrinha, twice the tear resistance.
  • Ultralight handles: very light semi-rigid handles that reduce weight and make it easier to fold the wing for downwind; the leading-edge handle has an anti-abrasion patch.
  • Dual Airlock valve: two valves to set the pressure of the leading edge and centre strut according to size.
  • Trailing edge reinforcement: a light, graduated panel that spreads tension along the trailing edge, improves the efficiency of the loaded sail and protects against abrasion when you leave it on the sand.
  • Forward-drive profile: concentrates the pull towards the front hand for a more balanced wing.
  • Load-oriented panels: the panels follow the load path from tip to tip of the wing.
  • Reinforced seams: closures reinforced with ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE).
  • High-tenacity Dacron and double-layer centre: more dihedral and arc stability, and better handling.
  • Featherlite bladders: light bladders that help keep the overall weight down.

COMPARE

Which one to choose?

  • Mantis 2025: Cabrinha's all-terrain wing, more powerful and designed to perform in all kinds of conditions. Choose it if you want a single wing for demanding freeride, jumping and waves; the AER is for those who prefer lightness and simplicity.
  • Vision 2025: stable, comfortable and with a very wide size range, up to large light-wind sizes. The AER weighs less and folds smaller.
  • Mantis Apex 2023: the high-performance version of the Mantis, stiffer and more direct, for riders looking for instant response.

Pair it with: a wrist leash such as the ION Wing Leash Core Coiled Wrist (the AER is sold without a leash), the Takuma Wing & Board Pump, a wing foil board such as the F-ONE Rocket Wing S or, if you're going to do downwind, the Duotone Downwinder SLS.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Which AER size do I need?+

For a 75 kg rider, Cabrinha gives the 5 m from 11 to 26 knots, the 4 m from 13 to 27 and the 3 m from 18 to 32. If you're only going to have one and ride in light or medium wind, the 5 m is the most versatile; the 3 m is for very windy days or light riders. If in doubt, write to us with your weight, level and spot.

What handles does it have? Can a boom be fitted?+

It has ultralight semi-rigid handles built into the wing, designed to save weight and fold it small. It isn't a rigid-handle or interchangeable-boom wing.

Is it suitable for kids?+

Cabrinha also designed the AER so that kids can start and progress, thanks to its low weight. For the youngest riders the brand makes sizes from 1 to 2.5 m; ask us if you're interested. The 3 m can suit a young or light rider on windy days.

Does it include a leash?+

No, the AER is sold without a leash. You'll need a wrist or waist leash for the wing.

What's different from the AER 2026?+

The AER 2026 is a new design, more compact and with a different canopy (Teijin D2). With the same wind ranges, according to Cabrinha's data the 2025 is lighter: 1.52 kg in 3 m versus 1.67 kg, and 2.16 kg in 5 m versus 2.39 kg.
