Description
Explosive pop and slack for your tricks
The explosive pop, the post-pop slack and the powerful turning response of the Pulse, North's 5-strut Modern-C kite, will get your pulse racing. It's a fresh twist on the classic C-kite, with more depower: the 5-line Pulse comes alive in unhooked freestyle and gives you more slack than ever to land the most technical tricks. Surprisingly stable and easy for a C-kite, it gives you that extra edge to compete.
5 struts · 5 lines · Sizes 7 – 13 m · Wind 11 – 35 knots · Modern-C design
Who it's for
- Unhooked freestyle riders looking for line slack for handle passes.
- Anyone competing or training technical unhooked tricks on a twintip.
- Riders who want the feel of a C-kite but with more stability and depower.
What makes it special
01 Responsive turning
Reacts instantly to the bar, with a powerful, precise turn to put the kite exactly where you need it for every trick.
02 More slack after the pop
After the jump the lines go slack and you have time to pass the bar and land.
03 Dynamic edging response
The kite reacts strongly when you load the rail, for explosive pop.
04 Unhooked performance
Designed for riding and doing tricks without being hooked into the harness.
05 Stable and easy
Surprisingly stable and forgiving for a C-kite.
06 Needs a 5-line bar
The fifth line holds the kite's shape and ensures relaunch; it requires a 5-line bar.
Where it shines: unhooked freestyle and technical twintip tricks, competition training and sessions on flat water or light chop.

“On the water, the Pulse delivers exactly what you'd expect from a Modern-C kite: smooth, constant pull, with an incredible feel through the bar.”
Technology and construction
- Modern-C design: plenty of line slack for handle passes and unhooking: explosive pop and slack lines to make your tricks more impressive.
- Efficient, smooth handling: a narrower span to build speed before unhooked tricks; the curved centre arc provides power and the flatter tips a dynamic turn.
- Powerful turns: the front lines go straight to the tips, with no bridles: powerful turning drive and more bar pressure, which help with pop and slack.
- Loaded fifth line: holds the arc shape and guarantees a safe relaunch; with a single bridle, the shape is more open than on an unloaded five-line kite.
- Tuning options: two positions on the rear tip: closer to the tip for less bar pressure, closer to the centre for a more direct feel.
- Segmented leading edge: each leading edge panel is curved, for a smoother, more aerodynamic arc without the need for transition panels.
- 5-strut stability: the five struts support the canopy and keep the profile stable.
- N-Dure2 Dacron frame: leading edge and tips in high-quality N-Dure2 Dacron, resistant to abrasion during self-launches.
- N-HTRS canopy: high-tenacity ripstop polyester fabric: light, strong and with zero porosity.
- Strong seams and light trailing edge: light, high-strength thread on the leading edge and a double-layer trailing edge that saves weight without losing durability.
- DuraLite protectors and Kevlar struts: light patches that protect the leading edge seams, and strut joints reinforced with Kevlar.
- Light bladders and HyperFlow inflation: light bladders in all sizes and fast one-pump inflation with a large-diameter hose. Includes kite, bag and repair kit.
The Pulse 2025 on the water
Which one to choose?
- Reach 2026: North's most versatile 4-line kite: also good for hooked-in freestyle and progression, as well as freeride, waves and foil.
- Orbit 2027: North's big air kite: choose it if you're more into jumping high and kiteloops than unhooked tricks.
Pair it with: the 5-line North Navigator Control System Freestyle 2026 bar or, if you already have a Navigator or Navigator PRO, the North 5th line kit; and a freestyle twintip such as the Flare 2025.
Frequently asked questions
What size Pulse do I need?+
It depends on your weight and usual wind. As a guide, North gives the 9 m a range of 16 to 30 knots and the 11 m 13 to 26. In unhooked freestyle you usually ride with the kite well powered up; if in doubt, drop us a line and we'll help you.
Can I use it with my 4-line bar?+
Not directly: the Pulse needs a 5-line bar. You can use the Navigator Freestyle or adapt your Navigator or Navigator PRO with the 5th line kit.
Is it a kite for learning?+
That's not what it's for. It's stable and easy for a C-kite, but it's designed for intermediate to advanced unhooked freestyle. For learning or progressing, the Reach is a better choice.
What's included?+
The kite, bag and repair kit. The bar is sold separately.
