Description
Easy take-off, long glide
The Sonar Downwind series is designed to take off effortlessly at low speed and reach high speeds to follow the swell faster: less drag and a longer glide, while keeping the manoeuvrability to move between bumps and with maximum resistance to ventilation. The DW1100 is one of the larger sizes in the series, for heavier riders or lighter conditions.
Area 1100 cm² · Span 1150 mm · Aspect ratio 12.0 · Pre-preg carbon
Who it's for
- Wing or paddle downwind riders who want to glide further.
- Anyone looking to link bumps in the swell with minimum effort.
What makes it special
01 Maximised span
Maximised span for less drag and a longer glide.
02 Manoeuvrable in the swell
Keeps the manoeuvrability needed to move between downwind bumps.
03 Efficient, with intuitive turning
Very efficient, turns naturally and resists ventilation to the maximum.
04 Several sizes for every weight and condition
The series has sizes for different weights and conditions.
05 Small sizes for light riders
The small sizes are for light riders, strong wind or big, fast swell.
06 With S192 or S142 stabiliser
North recommends it with the S192 or S142 for maximum glide and a livelier turning response.
Where it shines: wing in light wind; wing downwind; paddle downwind.
