Who it's for
- Intermediate to advanced riders who ride strapless in small and medium waves.
- Anyone who combines wave riding with strapless freestyle in the same session.
- Spots with weak waves or chop where you need to generate speed.
- Riders from 45 kg to over 85 kg, in three sizes.
What makes it special
01 Small waves and strapless freestyle
Designed for fast, dynamic surfing and strapless freestyle, with response, control and efficiency thanks to the shape and SLS construction.
02 Tight turns in every section
Hip-squash tail, more rocker and thinner rails for tighter, more precise turns in the pocket, with grip and control in the top turn.
03 Speed in weak waves
The fast, drive-oriented rocker and channelled bottom generate acceleration and hold speed even when the wave isn't pushing.
04 Strong, light and reactive feel
SLS construction combines strength and low weight for a reactive, durable board.
05 Smooth in chop
The Innegra Shield reduces vibration and improves durability, for a more stable ride in choppy water.
06 Less fatigue on the wave
The Cork Shock Absorber 2.0 softens impacts and vibration for longer, more comfortable sessions.
Where it shines: pop for strapless freestyle, early planing and stability for freeride, quick turns and speed generation in medium waves, drive and control in big waves.
Sizes and recommended weight
| SIZE | VOLUME | RIDER WEIGHT | FINS | BOARD WEIGHT* |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4'11" × 17 3/4" × 2" | 19.92 L | 45 – 65 kg | TS-M | 2.80 kg |
| 5'1" × 18 1/4" × 2 1/8" | 22.35 L | 65 – 85 kg | TS-M | 2.96 kg |
| 5'3" × 18 3/4" × 2 1/4" | 24.98 L | Over 85 kg | TS-M | 3.00 kg |
*Weight tolerance ±6% according to Duotone. The weight ranges are consecutive; if you're right at 65 or 85 kg, the bigger size gives more volume and float and the smaller one is more agile in turns and tricks. Check the selector for sizes available in store.

“The Whip SLS is fast, fun and super reactive: it lets you force tight turns and freestyle tricks with total control. My weapon for small waves and strapless freestyle.”
Technology and construction
- SLS construction (Strong Light Superior): Duotone's range for maximum performance without compromise; a strong, light and very reactive board.
- Innegra SLS Surfboard: Innegra replaces fibreglass: a light, tough board that feels livelier, with more impact resistance and a precise, predictable response without adding weight.
- Innegra Shield: reduces vibration and increases durability, for a smoother, more controlled ride in chop.
- Cork Shock Absorber 2.0: cork in the pressure zones that absorbs impacts and recovers its shape over time, avoiding visible marks.
- Responsive Flex: bamboo and composite layers for dynamic flex and torsional response.
- Grab Rails: make freestyle grabs easier, increase durability and give comfortable control while riding.
- Multibox: Futures-compatible boxes with side screws and no rear tab; precise, easy mounting even with sand or salt. TS-M fins.
Which one to choose?
- Whip D/LAB: same shape, volumes and sizes with carbon, RMF 3.0 and Innegra-reinforced rails; lighter (2.53 to 2.83 kg). The Whip SLS is more affordable.
- Volt SLS: also for small waves, but focused on planing with a small kite in soft waves thanks to its low entry rocker. Choose the Whip if you want tighter turns and strapless freestyle.
- Provoke: the technical strapless freestyle specialist, with a wide tail for pop and aggressive channels for landing.
Pair it with: the Traction Pad Front (Duotone's front pad for surfboards) and the Single Surf board bag to protect the rails in transport.
Frequently asked questions
Which Whip SLS size do I need?+
According to the official chart: 4'11" for 45 to 65 kg, 5'1" for 65 to 85 kg and 5'3" for over 85 kg. If you're on the borderline, the bigger one floats more and the smaller one is more agile.
What is the difference between the Whip SLS and the Whip D/LAB?+
SLS and D/LAB share shape, volumes and weight ranges. The SLS uses Innegra instead of fibreglass, Innegra Shield and Cork Shock Absorber 2.0; the D/LAB adds carbon construction, Innegra rail reinforcement and RMF 3.0 with memory, and weighs less in every size. The SLS is the more affordable option.
What waves is it designed for?+
For small and medium waves, including weak waves where you have to generate speed, and for strapless freestyle.
Is it for beginners?+
Duotone presents it as a high-performance board for dynamic surfing and strapless freestyle; it is designed for riders who are already confident on a surfboard.
Which fins does it use?+
The official chart lists the TS-M set for all sizes. The Multibox boxes are Futures-compatible, so they also take composite or aftermarket Futures fins.
