It's the fabric's ultraviolet protection factor: with UPF 50 or 50+ the fabric lets through less than one fiftieth of UV radiation. Even so, protect any exposed areas with sunscreen.
Which size should I choose?
A rash vest for the water should fit snugly, with no bagginess, so it doesn't balloon or rub when paddling. Use the chart above; if you're between two sizes and want it for everyday wear, choose the larger one.
Can it be worn under a wetsuit?
