Description
Stable drift so you can focus on the wave
The Float is Duotone's wave wing: a canopy designed for the wave, exceptional drift stability and power tuned to each size. For 2025 it debuts a weight-optimised construction, with no windows and boom only, for ultra-light handling in the surf. Its designer, Ken Winner, fine-tuned each size so the power comes through well across the whole range.
Sizes from 2.5 to 5.5 m² · 8 to 36 knots · Fusion boom only · Waves · freefly
Who it's for
- Wave riders who let the wing drift while they surf.
- Anyone looking for a light wing for freefly and swell.
- Riders who want more power than a Unit of the same size.
What makes it special
01 Optimised sweep angle
Low sweep that moves the centre of effort forward: you switch from the front handle to the boom with ease.
02 Well-distributed power
Size-specific tensions for ideal drift, power and stability in every size.
03 Innovative canopy
Less front tension and a deeper profile for more power, with stability tailored to each size.
04 More power
The Float delivers more power than a Unit of the same size.
Where it shines: waves and freefly, from 8 to 36 knots depending on size.

Official Duotone data. *Weight with boom. The Fusion boom shown is the recommended size and is not included. Recommended leash: M (4') up to 4.5 m² and L (5') from 5.0 m². If you're between two sizes, the smaller one is easier to handle on the wave and the larger one gives more power in light wind. Check the sizes and colours available in store in the selector.
“The Float has changed the way I ride waves. Its drift stability when hanging from the front handle lets me focus completely on the wave, without worrying about the wing flipping over or getting in my way.”
Technology and construction
- Lightness: Fusion boom only, to minimise weight.
- Control: new stiffer, wider leading edge handle for direct steering while surfing.
- Stiffness: larger tube diameter for a stiffer wing in the centre.
- Efficiency: a big weight reduction by optimising the leading edge material, with no windows and no handles.

Frequently asked questions
Why boom only?+
To keep the weight to a minimum. The Fusion boom is sold separately; the chart shows the recommended size for each wing size.
Which size should I choose?+
Choose the size whose wind range covers the usual wind at your spot. For waves, many riders prefer the smallest size that still lets them fly.
Is it suitable for freeride?+
It can be used for it, but it's designed for waves and freefly. For more all-round use, the Unit is a better option.
