Description
Born to jump, and jump again
The Pop D/LAB is Duotone's freestyle wing. With a low-to-medium aspect ratio it gives total control with power, generates explosive lift and a pop for linking jumps that is hard to match, and its fast profile lets you build up speed before take-off to gain height. During its development it was already winning GWA Freestyle World Cup events.
D/LAB construction · 500, 650 and 800 cm² · Aspect ratio 6.8 – 7.2 · Recommended tail: Monobloc F165
Who it's for
- Freestyle wingfoil riders looking for higher jumps, safe landings and linked tricks.
- Fast kitefoil riders who want a stable, locked-in wing at high speed.
- Riders who ride with a handheld wing on flat water and prioritise jumping over long carving turns.
- Young and light riders (the 500 is the choice of the youngest team riders).
What makes it special
01 Freestyle-specific performance
Designed for maximum control, predictable take-offs and safe landings in powered freestyle.
02 Explosive take-off and pop
Powerful take-offs and top-level pop for linking jumps, designed for advanced tricks.
03 Maximum speed before jumping
The fast, low-drag profile builds up speed and turns it into height.
04 Locked-in control
Constant front-foot pressure across the whole speed range: a stable feel on take-off, in the air and on landing, and also in fast kitefoiling.
05 World Cup-proven stability
The Monobloc Tail F165 with the 3BS+ system and its fourth screw gives maximum pitch stability at any speed.
06 Bombproof D/LAB construction
HM/IM carbon, a larger cross-section at the fuselage joint and an optimised laminate for exceptional stiffness, strength and durability.
Where it shines: freestyle wingfoiling in wind, fast kitefoiling and flat-water wingfoiling.
Sizes and technical specs
| SIZE | AREA | SPAN | ASPECT RATIO | RECOMMENDED TAIL |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 500 | 500 cm² | 60 cm | 7.2 | Monobloc F165 |
| 650 | 650 cm² | 66.9 cm | 6.9 | Monobloc F165 |
| 800 | 800 cm² | 74 cm | 6.8 | Monobloc F165 |
Data from Duotone's official spec sheet. 3BS+ connection compatible with the fourth screw (M6×32 TX30); the wing does not include screws. According to Duotone, the 650 is the team riders' choice, the 800 gives more lift for light winds or heavy riders and the 500 is the favourite of the youngest riders. More locked-in than a wave wing
Compared with more surf-oriented wings such as the Carve 3.0, the Pop D/LAB prioritises stability and jumping over glide and turning. Its longer centre chord moves the centre of lift forward and keeps pressure on the front foot, exactly what you need to load up, take off and land with power.
Technology and construction
- HM/IM pre-preg carbon: a mix of high-modulus and intermediate-modulus fibres for maximum stiffness, strength and response.
- 3BS+ system with fourth screw: maximum pitch stability, especially on take-offs, landings and powered manoeuvres.
- Fast, low-drag profile: camber and thickness optimised to reduce drag without losing control or lift under load.
- Larger cross-section at the joint: reinforced geometry that increases stiffness and durability under the loads of modern freestyle.
- Low-to-medium aspect ratio: combines explosive lift, controlled handling and powerful pop.
- Refined freestyle outline: a longer centre chord moves the centre of lift forward for constant front-foot pressure.
- Monobloc Tail F165: developed for freestyle and fast kitefoiling: a powerful, locked-in feel with great pitch control.
The Pop D/LAB on the water
Which one to choose?
- Wing Set Pop D/LAB 2027: the same Pop D/LAB (650 or 800) already paired with its Monobloc Tail F165; the straightforward option if you don't have a tail.
- Wing Set Carve 3.0 D/LAB: more geared towards waves and long turns; less locked-in and with more glide.
- Blitz D/LAB: pure speed wing for kitefoiling and fast wingfoiling; less designed for jumping.
Pair it with: the Monobloc Tail F D/LAB 2027 (the recommended one), a 3BS+-compatible mast such as the Mast SLS 2.0 2027 or the Mast Slim 2.0 D/LAB 2026, and a freestyle board such as the Sky Style SLS 2027.
Frequently asked questions
Which tail do I need?+
Duotone recommends the Monobloc Tail F165 for all three sizes: it was developed for the Pop D/LAB and provides the front-foot pressure and pop that freestyle calls for.
Which size should I choose?+
The 650 is the team favourite; the 800 for light winds or heavier riders; the 500 for light and young riders or lots of wind.
Does it work for kitefoiling?+
Yes. Duotone also recommends it for fast kitefoiling because of its locked-in feel at high speed. If you are just starting out, read what hydrofoiling in kitesurfing is all about.
Does it include screws?+
No. The wing uses the 3BS+ connection; the fourth screw (M6×32 TX30) comes with the compatible tail.
